The cold heading machine is specialized equipment primarily used for heading operations, especially for mass-producing components such as nuts and bolts. In simpler terms, it is a type of stamping machine in mechanical manufacturing that shapes raw materials into required forms without altering their fundamental properties. Among various types, the multi-station automatic cold heading machine represents a significant technological advancement.

The origins of the cold heading machine can be traced back to Germany, where it was initially developed to meet material production demands during World War II.

The multi-station cold heading machine operates on the cold forging principle, automatically processing bar stock into specific products like nuts and bolts through a series of coordinated stations.

Key characteristics of this machine include:

1. Horizontal arrangement of upsetting stations.

2. Use of an open-close clamping mechanism for workpiece transfer, with individually adjustable timing for each clamp.

3. Adoption of a full-circle sleeve cutting method, which produces relatively smooth cut surfaces.

4. Capability to accommodate large-disk feeding requirements.

5. Equipped with a separately adjustable punch pushing mechanism at each station.

6. Utilization of a connecting rod system to drive the main action mechanism.

7. Integration of a pneumatically controlled clutch and brake, enabling no-load startup of the main motor. This design offers flexible inching operation, facilitating easier machine debugging, and ensures that the main slide automatically stops at the rear position when the machine is halted.

Additionally, certain operational guidelines should be observed, such as avoiding cold heading of excessively thick or thin steel bars or wires. The ends of steel bars should be ground flat to ensure accurate positioning of the cold heading anchor head.
