1. Definition and principle
A cold heading machine is a kind of mechanical equipment used for rod or coarse wire hole processing of metal materials. The principle is to reduce the diameter of the steel rod and form the required hole shape through a series of molds to form the required processing size.

A punch press, also known as a stamping machine, is a common industrial machine used for process operations such as cutting, punching, and forming sheet metal, thin sheets. The principle is to use a die to apply pressure to a sheet metal or sheet of metal for cutting and forming.

2. Differences
Although the principle of cold heading machine and punching machine is similar, their application scenarios and production efficiency are different:
(1) Application scenarios
The cold heading machine is mainly used in the production of various threaded screws, hexagon nuts, connectors and various metal strips and other rod or coarse wire products. The punching machine is mainly used in the production of metal plates, sheets and various parts of cutting, punching and forming and other process operations.

(2) Production efficiency
The cold heading machine can complete multiple processing operations in one processing, with high production efficiency and is suitable for mass production. The punch machine needs to change the mold many times during the processing process, and the production efficiency is low, which is suitable for small and medium batch production.
